A practical set of diagnostic, mitigation, safety, and escalation steps for a known operational condition. A runbook is written for the responder who is tired and may not own the service, so it prioritises the next safe decision over completeness — including an explicit statement of what must not be done without approval.

A runbook for a queue backlog gives the dashboard to check, the safe drain command, the size threshold that requires approval, and who to escalate to if the backlog is still growing after ten minutes.
